The Wine Book Tag

Hey Book-loving-fam πŸ™‚

So hope everybody’s week was great! I have been incredibly busy studying for a range of tests that I am writing next week. But no matter, after doing my fair share of learning today, I decided to kick back with a home-cooked meal and a nice glass of wine.

Being a student of the University of Stellenbosch, out little town is situated in a mountainous valley with tons of wine farms surrounding our campus. Needless to say, you are not truly a Stellenbosch student unless you have acquired the taste of wine, and boy have I πŸ™‚ So I thought this would be a fun little tag to get the weekend kicked off, not like I’m going to be having much of one, considering my nose is going to be stuck in my textbooks all weekend.

So without further ado, let’s dive right in shall we…

Box Wine- a book people will judge you for liking but you like it anywaysΒ

So this book has been judged by many people as being “obvious” for any female reader to like. Now, I know that it is not true and my reasons for loving this book is not simply because of the romance. There are so many genius layers that Austen incorporates into all her novels that is incomparable. Also, no, this is not the only Austen novel I have read ether πŸ™‚ So while many people might roll their eyes to this answer, I don’t mind, I love this book and that ain’t ever going to change πŸ˜‰

Organic Wine- a book that doesn’t have any crap in it and is just writtenΒ perfectly

As generic as this may sound, how can one fault this incredible series and the Queen herself, Ms J.K Rowling πŸ™‚

Gluehwein- a really spicy, Wintry read

Seriously one of the most underrated YA novels out there. Take this book, curl up under a comfy blanket, grab a cup of tea and a box of tissues and you’re all set for this roller coaster of a novel.

Sauvignon Blanc – a really sharp and aggressive read that you couldn’t put down

One of them most fast-paced novels I have ever read. Twists and turns at every corner that will have you checking the dark corners in your room for anyone (or thing) hiding there, watching you… πŸ˜‰ Really fun and fast paced as well. I did a full review for this novel over here.

Pinot Noir – a book you didn’t expect much from but ended up getting blown away

If you have been on this blog for some time now, you would have seen that I have said numerous times what little expectations I had for this book. I had not read Bardugo’s first trilogy set in this world and heard mixed reviews about it, so I went into this book not really knowing what I was getting myself into and therefore was completely blown away when I fell in love with absolutely everything about this story! Highly anticipating Crooked Kingdom! πŸ™‚

Chardonnay – a good summer read that was super zesty

So, I’m not the biggest contemporary reader and most contemporaries are perfect to read in the summer. But this is the only contemporary book/series that I cannot fault. I usually get bored with the characters or the plot in some way or the other but not with these. Like a good Chardonnay, they are sweet, zesty and perfect for when the days get warmer πŸ˜‰

Rose – a book that has a little bit of everything in it

This book literally has everything in it- part historical fiction/ part drama; mystery, romance, thriller-element, hope, tragedy, loss, redemption, smiles, tears, lessons learned and lives lost. Do yourself a favour and read this book NOW!

Shiraz – a full-bodied book that is dark and juicy

With over 1200 pages, this novel has a lot of story to tell. Filled with all the intrigue, backstabbing, secrets, romance, drama and suspense of the English court during the War of the Roses. Just reached the halfway point in this book, and I cannot even begin to force myself to stop. I am going to be in pieces when this novel is done. Or I’m just going to have to restart it right away πŸ™‚ A full review for this book will follow soon πŸ™‚

Merlot – a smooth, easy read with a soft finish

I have been an avid reader of Meg Cabot for as long back as I can remember and I have read Β all of her contemporary novels. This one however has to be my favorite by far. Its witty, quick and cute πŸ™‚ definitely read this one with a glass of wine in your hand πŸ™‚

Champagne – your favorite book

I hate it when I have to pick my favorite πŸ™‚ but anyways, it would have to be this book. I guess one could say it is my favorite, because if reading this story every Christmas since I purchased it five years ago does not say that I absolutely adore this novel, plot, characters and everything about it, then I don’t know what will! πŸ˜‰

I hope you all enjoyed this fun little post to kick off the weekend πŸ™‚

Have a kickass weekend and if you liked this post, don’t forget to let me know down in the comments!

See ya soon book-lovers πŸ˜‰
